As a cultural hub in Galway City, Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop regularly hosts book launches, literary events, book signings, and readings.
Over the last twenty-five years, Charlie Byrne’s has held hundreds of book launches and readings featuring some of Ireland’s best loved novelists, poets, photographers, and writers of non-fiction, as well as a diverse range of international literary events. We’ve got all the ingredients for perfect book launches. Our Middle Street shop lends the perfect atmosphere to events; we have facilities for serving wine and other cold beverages; we can create beautiful displays of books; our enthusiastic staff help create memorable, well-organised events; and our wonderful customers can be counted on to make the night a success!
We also run regular events especially for children, including a weekly Saturday-morning storytime. Join us every Saturday morning for stories, rhymes and magical adventures with children’s book expert Olivia. Our storytime kicks off at 11am, when she shares well-loved favourites, exciting new releases, and a vast variety of brilliant picture books. Our free storytime takes place among comfy chairs in the children’s section, and is suitable for kids of all ages, especially younger children. Olivia also does readings at schools, libraries, and special events.
In addition to storytime, our children’s section often hosts children’s book launches, visiting authors and literary events. Each year we host internationally-acclaimed children’s authors in our children’s section, including laureate na nÓg Niamh Sharkey, other fantastic Irish authors such as Enda Wyley and Malachy Doyle, and author-illustrator mother-and-daughter team Joyce and Polly Dunbar. Feel free to contact Olivia at 091-561-766 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to arrange a special reading for your class or group, launch a children’s book, or visit our shop to read or sign books.
