Ennistymon Book Town Festival 2017

ennistymonpCome join Vinny in beautiful Ennistymon for this year’s Ennistymon Book Town Festival and stop by our pop-up bookshop !

The festival takes place in the West Clare town on the 27th and 28th of May, when once again we will see Ennistymon transformed into a bok-lovers paradise with booksellers from the length and breadth of the country cramming into every available space in the town. As usual, they bring with them something for everyone, with all sorts of gems for sale from the rarest collector’s items to beautiful children’s books sure to draw those just starting to read into a lifelong love affair with the written word. Cooney Books from Cork, Ailbe O Donoghue from Waterford, Geata Buidhe Books and Tall Stories from Kilkenny, Dinghy Books Doolin, John O Brien from Limerick and Foyle Books from Derry will take over venues all over town from Saturday at 10 am to Sunday at 5 pm. Our very own pop-up bookshop will settle in Stacks on Stacks Corner, Main Street.



As well as the booksellers, there will be a chance to hear from many local and national authors with readings throughout the weekend. The Salmon bookshop will be hosting a number of events kicking off with a contemporary poetry reading in its beautiful walled garden on Saturday at, readers to include Sarah Clancy, Eamonn Lynskey and Gabriel Fitzmaurice. That evening, at 7, three internationally-known poets, James Ragan, Richard Halperin and Gordon Warmsley, with read from their poetry collection and talk about their interest in Irish literature and in working with an Irish publisher. On Sunday, Dublin poet and non-fiction writer Adam Wyeth will lead a creative writing workshop from 10 to 3 followed by an open mic reading in the bookshop’s garden.


The Festival takes place in Ennistymon on Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of May 2017 and promises to be a weekend to remember !
