About Father Browne’s Laois
Father Browne, ‘Ireland’s greatest documentary photographer’ according to The Irish Times, lived for in Emo, County Laois, for twenty-eight years, where he had his homemade photo laboratory and where he perfected the art which he had been practicing for so many years. Because Laois was his adopted county, he photographed it intensively, showing its people at work and at play, on road and on rail. Some of these people lived in Great Houses, others in small cottages. Father Browne photographed the lot.
