Gloss Magazine Bookshop of the Year 2018

old skool

It was a real honour to be awarded the Gloss Magazine Bookshop of the Year via their Twitter poll in December 2018. They commented that:

It’s no surprise that Galway’s beloved book labyrinth is our clear winner. Brimming with miles of new and pre-loved titles, every inch of the 3000 sq ft space is stuffed with treasure. Charlie Byrne’s truly is book Mecca, so shoppers must allow plenty of time to fill their arms with bargains.

We were equally honoured to be in such good company. Ireland is lucky to have such a rich choice of independent secondhand bookshops to choose from. Included in the Top Ten were:

2ndScéal Eile Books, 16 Lower Market St, Clonroad Beg, Ennis, Co Clare.

3rd – No Alibis, 83 Botanic Avenue, Belfast.

4th – Vibes and Scribes Book Shop, 21 Lavitt’s Quay, Cork City, Co. Cork.

5th – Books Upstairs, 17 D’Olier St, Dublin 2.

6th – Quay Books, Arthur’s Quay Centre, Patrick St, Co Limerick.

7th – The Reading Room, Bridge House, Bridge St, Townparks, Carrick-On-Shannon, Co Leitrim

8th – O’Mahony’s Booksellers, 120 O’Connell St, Limerick.

9th – The Gutter Bookshop, Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
