Irish Language Literary Event

cuireadh-idirlin-page-001Charlie Byrne’s are delighted to announce a special literary event which will showcase three new titles from Dalkey Archive Press and launch a long-awaited new collection of short stories by the award-winning writer Micheál Ó Conghaile.

The writer Mike McCormack will present the dual-language titles The Key / An Eochair by Máirtín Ó Cadhain (translated by Louis de Paor and Lochlainn Ó Tuairisg and Seachrán Jeaic Sheáin Johnny / Rambling Jack by Micheál Ó Conghaile (translated by Katherine Duffy) will be presented. In addition, the new novel Past Habitual by Galway resident and former Director of the National Library of Ireland, Alf MacLochlainn will be featured at the event.

A new collection of short stories by Micheál Ó Conghaile, the first in 12 years, will be launched by Dr Louis de Paor at the event in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, Middle Street, Galway on Friday, 26 June at 6.00 p.m. This is the first new collection of short stories for adults by Micheál Ó Conghaile since the award-winning An Fear Nach nDéanann Gáire (Cló Iar-Chonnacht, 2003). The collection contains a dozen new stories, each of which is accompanied by an illustration by the artist Seán Ó Flaithearta.

Beidh ceiliúradh ar thrí theideal nua ó Dalkey Archive Press ag an ócáid freisin.
