Launch of Margaret Hannigan-Popp’s “Hope and Other Animals”

Margaret Hannigan-Popp

Charlie Byrne’s will be hosting the launch of Margaret Hannigan-Popp’s first collection of poetry Hope and Other Animals at 6pm tomorrow Friday the 28th of August

Born in Ireland in 1959, Margaret now divides her time between homes in Ballygar and Llantrisant in Wales. A life long love of literature, of the voice of the less often heard and the art of story telling led to the decision to embark on creative writing studies to galvanise a writing career. Her poems were written around the broad themes of emigration and memory and despite the aversion to cancer poetry inevitably it snook in.

Written between June 2014 and March 2015, if these poems are light on craftsmanship the poet hopes that the intensity of language and honesty of passion will engage the reader. This is Margaret’s first work published and has also been nominated for the Forward Poetry prize to be announced in September.

Margaret is currently working on a collection of short stories, “Ghosts Pass By” with a view to securing a publisher in 2016.

The launch of Hope and Other Animals will take place in Charlie Byrne’s at 6pm Friday the 28th of August for more information simply contact us.
