Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop is an integral part of Galway’s arts community, and we often arrange to host pop-up bookshops at events, festivals and markets.
Our best known pop-up shop is our annual Cúirt Bookshop, which runs for most of the festival in the Town Hall Theatre. Each year, we bring a full book bookshop to the Town Hall Theatre as part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature, and we offer a selection of books by all participating authors, as well as a large selection of other titles, including books of poetry, fiction, non-fiction and literary interest. Our Cúirt bookshop is also home to signings with authors after each reading, as well as book launches and other literary events. Plus, it’s also a social hub during Cúirt, where festivalgoers meet and chat with authors, Cúirt staff, and, of course, the staff of Charlie Byrne’s! Keep up-to-date with readings and events at this year’s festival here.
The Galway Garden Festival is the site of Charlie Byrne’s pop-up bookshop each July. Claregalway Castle is a beautiful location for our annual shop, which is always brimming with books on gardening and natural history, as well as a large selection of children’s books, Irish interest, and local history.
We’ve also had pop-up shops at the Galway Arts Festival, Galway Food Festival, Ballymahon Christmas Market, and the Volvo Ocean Race, and at many other events, including book launches, conferences, and readings. We’re happy to provide books for your event, or to sell them for you! If you’d like to have Charlie Byrne’s at your event, please ring 091-561-766 and ask for Charlie or Vinny.
