Join us tomorrow Saturday the 17th of December from 12:30 for a signing with journalist John Walsh, former Connacht and Wasps star Johnny O’Connell and Peter Bracken who will be signing Connacht; The Team that Refused to Die.
In 2003 it took a march by over 2000 Connacht supporters to the IRFU headquarters to stop their team from being disbanded. Six years later the team again came close to being wound up.
But Connacht people are resilient, hardened by decades of battles against the odds.
The arrival of Pat Lam provided the inspiration to go from no-hopers to champions, with their Pro12 final win over Leinster in 2016 probably the most unlikely title victory by any team since rugby went professional. The story is chronicled by journalist John Fallon of Media West Ireland who was the Connacht team manager in 2003 when the fate of the province hung in the balance and who has been reporting on the side since 1984.
Billy Stickland and his team at Inpho Sports Photography have captured the Connacht story in thousands of images over the decades.
The Team that Refused to Die details Connacht’s troubled history, the remarkable way they turned their fortunes around, with a comprehensive account of their glory season in addition to the details on all the matches they have played in the league and in Europe since the game went professional.
Don’t miss this exciting event from 12:30 tomorrow Saturday the 17th of December. Connacht; The Team that Refused to Die is available in store for €20. For more information about this event, or to reserve a copy, simply contact us.
